Welcome to All Animals

About Us

All Animals is brought to you by Mare Jarvis and Chelle Rogers. Below is a bit about each of us.

I'm Mary, but my friends call me Mare. I'm the "office" end of All Animals, doing the dreaded bookkeeping. I have worked in the financial arena for 30+ years and am currently a loan officer at a large credit union. I've always loved animals - better than most people, if the truth be told. When Rusty and I bought our farm in 1987, the first animals to arrive were llamas, followed in close succession by sheep (dairy, fiber and meat), Border Collies, Maremma livestock guardian dogs, and then dairy goats. Cats rule the barn and Mewie rules the house. Mewie has her own pets, a tank of tetras (fish). The internet has been a big factor in the success of our farm, with our website, beautifully designed by Chelle, appearing in 1996. When Chelle approached me about the idea for a site combining all animals, I jumped at the chance to be part of it. The Net is a wonderful resource, and I think this site will be an exciting part of it.

I'm Chelle and I do the website design and maintenance at All Animals. I've been designing websites professionally since 1995 and love creating something new and unique for each client. I've been a serf to my llamas since 1990, and over the years I've also been owned by dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, chinchillas, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, salamanders, a red tailed hawk, finches, cockatiels, parakeets, goats, fish, and by several deer that hang out at my place by choice. I love animals (and people that love animals) and I think this site will be a lot of fun as it grows into a rainbow representing a variety of animals and their owners, informative articles, and those who supply animal related services, goods and gifts. There is a bit more about my farm, Castalia, and area here, but that page does contain photos.

Here is a bit more about Mare that she didn't tell you. She is modest about it, but she is one of the most knowledgeable "sheep people" you will ever find. Mare was Secretary and Treasurer of the OPP Concerned Sheep Breeders Society for 7 years. The Society decided to take advantage of the Groveland Farm web site to publish a fact sheet on Ovine Progressive Pneumonia and some other helpful materials. Mare has written numerous articles about sheep dairying for industry magazines over the years, and lectured at sheep conferences. When the Jarvis' were still milking sheep, they won awards for Milk Quality, and they basically wrote the Quality section of the Wisconsin Sheep Dairy Cooperative's manual. Mare is still the Secretary/Treasurer of the Maremma Sheepdog Club of America, the breed association for the livestock guardian dogs that they raise. Rusty (Mare's sweetheart of a husband) was a board member of the Wisconsin Sheep Dairy Cooperative, serving as a Vice President. His focus was Quality Control. He also served on the Endangered Species Committee of the American Sheep Industry Association for 4 years, with the timber wolf as his major focus. They raise Est A Laine Merino sheep, llamas, Maremmano-Abruzzese livestock guardian dogs, and Border Collies. You can visit their website for more information.
